Who We Are
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-political women’s service organization whose mission is to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Our members have proven their descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution. Learn about membership in DAR here.
Sierra Blanca Chapter, NSDAR, meeting in Ruidoso, Lincoln County, New Mexico, was organized in 1972 as the sixteenth DAR chapter in New Mexico. Check out the New Mexico State Organization DAR (NMSODAR) website for information on New Mexico chapters.
We cordially invite you to contact us if you are interested in membership information or wish to attend a meeting.
Not sure you have a Patriot of the American Revolution in your family? Members of Sierra Blanca Chapter, NSDAR, can help you research your family history. Contact our chapter membership chair for assistance.

What We Do
Chapter meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month, September through May, in Ruidoso, New Mexico. In addition to our business meeting, a program may be presented on topics of interest to the members such as DAR Museum exhibits, lineage research techniques, community service projects, veterans services, and commemorative events.
We join with community groups to place U.S. Flags at veterans’ graves at Fort Stanton Veterans Cemetery in May for Memorial weekend and wreaths in December. We pass out U.S. Flags to children at the Smokey Bear Independence Day Parade. Historical preservation projects have included painting the white crosses at the Fort Stanton Merchant Marine Cemetery and cleaning up the Old Fort Cemetery.
Genealogy workshops and special presentations are offered periodically. We support veterans and active-duty servicemen and servicewomen through NSDAR projects.
